Biography

A/Prof Karen Kheruntsyan graduated from the Yerevan State University, Armenia, in 1988. He received his PhD degree in physics from the Institute for Physical Research, Armenian Academy of Science, in 1993. In 1996 he moved to the University of Queensland, Australia, as a postdoc, and was awarded a University of Queensland Postdoctoral Research Fellowship in 1997. He subsequently held positions of Lecturer, ARC Senior Research Fellow, Chief Investigator in the ARC Centre of Excellence for Quantum-Atom Optics, ARC Future Fellow, and is currently Associate Professor in the School of Mathematics and Physics. His primary research interests are in the area of ultracold atomic gases, including Bose-Einstein condensates, ultracold molecules, low-dimensional systems, and fundamental tests of quantum mechanics.
