Biophotonics and Laser Science Seminars 2009

Researchers meet every Tuesday from 12 - 1 pm in the Seminar Room (407), top floor of the Physics Annexe. A discussion about the week's highlights and happenings is followed by an informal talk by a visitor or one of our researchers.

October 27 Dr Gabriel Molina Terriza The Limits of the Spatial Control of Photons
The spatial properties of light fields have found many applications. In a wide range of areas: from astronomy to biology, to quantum optics. In the last years the field of nanophotonics has allowed the Exploration of a new regime of control of the optical fields: the subwavelength regime. The implications of this for the quantum optics and quantum Information communities are only recently beginning to be explored. In this talk I will review some of the techniques to control the spatial Properties of single and entangled photons. I will finish with some examples of interactions between quantum light and nanostructures.
