Biophotonics and Laser Science Seminars 2009
Researchers meet every Tuesday from 12 - 1 pm in the Seminar Room (407), top floor of the Physics Annexe. A discussion about the week's highlights and happenings is followed by an informal talk by a visitor or one of our researchers.

The Limits of the Spatial Control of Photons |
|
The spatial properties of light fields have found many applications. In a wide range of areas: from astronomy to biology, to quantum optics. In the last years the field of nanophotonics has allowed the Exploration of a new regime of control of the optical fields: the subwavelength regime. The implications of this for the quantum optics and quantum Information communities are only recently beginning to be explored. In this talk I will review some of the techniques to control the spatial Properties of single and entangled photons. I will finish with some examples of interactions between quantum light and nanostructures. |
