Vectorial variational problems very often exhibit singularities, i.e., their solutions are not regular, although data - integrands, coefficients, equations - are smooth. This dark aspect invites us to study the structure of the so-called singular sets: points where solutions become discontinuous, unbounded etc. In this seminar, Prof. Mingione will present a few results in this direction, trying to take the audience to the Dark Side.
