It has been discovered that the expansion of the universe is not slowing down as would be expected, but actually accelerating. This mysterious acceleration of the universe may in fact be due to some new theory of gravity, a modification of Einstein's theory of General Relativity on large scales. We can test gravity on very large scales (up to the size of the Universe) by measuring the velocities of test particles, which in this case are galaxies. In this project, you will use data taken by galaxy redshift surveys to test alternative theories of gravity.
