Citizen Science is the public participation in scientific research. It has a long history going back to The Audubon Society’s Christmas Bird Count, which began in 1900. It’s history in Astronomy is long too; The American Association of Variable Star Observers has gathered data on variable stars since 1911. More recent examples include: Seti@HOME, theSkyNet POGS, Einstein@HOME, Zooniverse.
This talks introduces Citizen Science and walks you through the steps necessary to build a BOINC based system using theSkyNet POGS as a template.
